"When my cousin, David Mead, and I co-founded Sunrise Solar in 2008, the world was still navigating the Great Recession. But in Northern California, another quiet crisis was brewing on residential rooftops.

The solar boom had arrived, bringing a wave of aggressive sales companies and fast-talking installers. The problem? Most solar companies didn’t know the first thing about roofs. They punched through shingles without proper flashing, cracked tiles, and left behind catastrophic leaks, all while voiding the roof warranties homeowners relied on.

David and I were already seasoned roofers. We understood structural integrity, how water moves, and how to properly weatherproof a home. With over 40 years of combined roofing experience between us, we knew that mounting an expensive solar system onto a compromised roof was a recipe for disaster.

Together, we wanted to build a different kind of company: a dual-licensed, family-owned operation where roofing precision and cutting-edge clean energy work hand-in-hand. Today, with David’s son, David Jr., working right alongside us, our family continues to uphold those exact same standards of hands-on quality and care.

From the foothills of El Dorado Hills to Auburn, Rocklin, Roseville, and throughout the Greater Sacramento area, we’ve grown our business the old-fashioned way: through word-of-mouth recommendations, neighborhood referrals, and building lasting relationships.
